What Have You Decided Is Possible?

Last week, I attended Healing Is Here at Charis Bible College in beautiful Woodland Park, Colorado. Every time I attend, I come home with my cup overflowing and the power within me ignited to another level.

This time, I kept thinking about something Andrew Wommack teaches with tremendous conviction:

We live on this side of the cross.

We live under the New Covenant established through the blood of Jesus (Luke 22:20). Jesus returned to the Father and sent Holy Spirit, our Helper, to dwell within us (John 14:16–17). And the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now lives in us (Romans 8:11).

Therefore, disease, sickness, illness, injury, and infirmity do not get the final word.

Because of what Jesus accomplished through the cross and resurrection, we don’t approach sickness merely hoping God might intervene. Scripture points us to what Jesus accomplished for us (Isaiah 53:4–5; Matthew 8:16–17; 1 Peter 2:24).

As I listened, I realized I need to ask you a question: What you decided is possible?

As practitioners, we are trained to discover the medical facts—the scan, pathology, labs, symptoms, and prognosis. We need those facts. They give us valuable information for determining how to treat our patients with clinical excellence.

But facts do not define the limits of what God can do.

We can look directly at the medical reality, use everything science has taught us, and still keep complete healing and miracles as a confident possibility in our thinking. This can be very challenging for all of us.

Recently, during an amazing healing worship we hosted on our lawn, I spoke about loosing Heaven into our thinking — allowing our minds to become aligned with God’s truth so we can think with the mind of Christ even when our five senses tell us something different than God’s promises.

What if we stopped allowing what we see on earth to determine the boundaries of what we believe is possible?

That question became even clearer this week when my marketing strategist asked me:

“What decisions, in order, do the people you want to impact need to make?”

I realized one decision must come very early:

We have to decide what we believe is true about God, sickness, and healing.

If any part of us believes disease comes from God, or questions whether healing is His will, that is where we seek understanding. We get into His Word and ask Holy Spirit to reveal where our thinking needs to align with truth.

Jesus said, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)

This matters profoundly in medicine.

God positioned you to gain extraordinary knowledge of His creation—the human body. Science matters. Evidence matters. Clinical excellence matters. God blessed you with a beautiful calling in medicine! He blessed you with a heart’s desire and gifting and talents to be used in medicine. He also did this with the intention of partnering with you in the exam room!

You were never meant to carry the responsibility for healing alone.

You can stand beside your patient with science in your hands, the love of Christ in your heart, the mind of Christ influencing your thinking, and Holy Spirit leading—confidently leaving room for what God can do through you.

So, this week, ask Holy Spirit:

“Show me anywhere my thinking about sickness and healing is not aligned with Your truth.”

Then seek. Listen. Renew your mind.

What have you decided is possible?

May the grace of Jesus, the Love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be upon you!

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
